Sen. Rick Scott Expresses Concern for Residents Who Didn’t Evacuate Amid Hurricane Milton

As Hurricane Milton landed on Wednesday evening, Florida Senator Rick Scott voiced his worries about residents who chose not to evacuate and the safety of first responders tasked with helping them. In an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on “The Source,” Scott stated, “People that didn’t evacuate that should’ve. We can’t take care of them now.”

He urged those remaining to “hunker down” and prioritize their safety, emphasizing the risks faced by first responders who may put their lives on the line to assist those in need. Scott, who evacuated his own home in Naples, also expressed concerns about the potential for significant power outages and damage caused by the storm.

He highlighted the exceptional number of tornadoes that struck Florida on Wednesday, relaying the anxiety expressed by local sheriffs and mayors. “It was a scary, scary time. We had so many tornadoes,” he noted, reflecting on the heightened fear and concern among residents.
